
At the elementary level, there is a Learning Chess Club, where students work with others in order to improve/cultivate their chess skills. Students learn basic chess moves, practice their skills, and compete with others in a fun and nurturing environment. In addition, there is a county-wide chess tournament held each year.
Chess Club Summer Opportunity!!!
The Cecil County Chess Club, working with the Learning Chess Center, is pleased to announce weekly chess club meetings to be held this summer in North East, Maryland. Meetings will be held from 6-8:30 pm, each Wednesday, starting June 2nd.
These meetings will include a program each week, in addition to plenty of chess games. All ages and levels of chess skill are welcome. Coaches are welcome to attend the special “Coaches Corner” which will assist Coaches in teaching chess. Each meeting will include a “chess lecture” and opportunities to play chess.
The Cecil County Chess Club hopes to sponsor tournaments rated with the US Chess Federation. The Wednesday night meetings will offer training for beginning and developed players and coaches. If you want to learn chess there will be people to teach you. If your want to improve your chess or raise your USCF ranking, this is where you can get help. Meetings will be held every Wednesday, 6:00-8:30 pm.
Tournament Boards and Sets will be provided, bring your own clocks.
