The East Coast Regional DI Tournament was held on Saturday, March 1 at Bel Air Middle School. CCPS is proud to announce that several of our student teams placed in the top four places and have moved onto the State Tournament that will be held on April 12 at Towson University. The results of the competition can be found on the Creative Problem Solving page. |

Celebrating Gifted and Talented Education
in Maryland

The Maryland State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education sponsored a reception to recognize the contributions and achievements of students, educators, community leaders, and legislators to Gifted and Talented education programs across the state.
Recognition was given to the following Cecil County Public School teachers:
Susan Davis - Outstanding Educator-Teacher
Andrea Keen - Outstanding Educator-Teacher
Lorraine Carcoura - Outstanding Educator-Teacher
Recognition was also given to an outstanding high school student and an outstanding middle school student.
We congratulate these individuals on their achievements.

The Maryland State Conference on Gifted and Talented Education for 2008 will be held at New Town High School in Owings Mill, Maryland, on October 17. The theme for this year’s conference is “Voices for Gifted Learners”.
The conference committee is seeking proposals for one-hour presentations reflecting best practices K-12 in the following conference strands:
- Instructional Needs of Gifted Learners, grades K-12
- Underrepresented Populations in Gifted Education
- Collaboration for Gifted Learners
Proposal applications are due on April 25, 2008
